Most companies are named after their founder. Ours is named after its future.
Gideon is David Heileman's son. And when David decided to come off the road for good — after more than 15 years in construction, heavy equipment, and FEMA-funded disaster cleanup across the country — he wasn't just starting a business. He was planting one.
For years, David's work was wherever the storm was. Hurricanes, tornadoes, ice storms — clearing streets so ambulances could pass, lifting trees off houses at scale, running equipment, crews, and paperwork to the toughest standard in the industry: the federal government's. It was good work that mattered. It also meant a lot of dinners missed at home in Jonesboro.
Naming the company after Gideon was David's way of making the decision permanent. This business isn't a detour until the next deployment — it's roots. It's built to be here in Jonesboro for decades, built to a standard worth signing your son's name to, and built with the intention of one day handing Gideon the keys. Every tree we remove, every site we clear, every storm call we answer at 2 a.m. carries that name — which is exactly why we don't cut corners on any of it.
That's what "family owned and operated" means here. Not a slogan. A succession plan.
Today, Gideon Tree Works serves homeowners, farms, builders, and municipalities across Northeast Arkansas with in-house equipment most local companies can't match — including a tree-extraction crane that lifts trees out whole instead of dropping them over your home — and the disaster-zone documentation standards David brought home from FEMA work.
We're home every night. We plan to be here for a generation. And someday, when you call Gideon Tree Works, Gideon will answer.

15+ Years, One Standard
David's background is construction — foundations, site work, and structures — layered with years of FEMA-funded disaster response. That combination produces a tree and debris contractor who thinks like a builder and documents like a federal contractor: the work is planned around what's under and behind it, and every job leaves a paper trail an adjuster or an auditor can follow.
